A portion of every dollar spent through the Alliance Purchasing Cooperative goes to the Greatest Needs Fund. This fund provides the Alliance with great flexibility to respond to emerging issues and critical needs in the museum community such as:
Advocating annually for resources and funding for museums at the federal level and responding to specific challenges as they arise, such as rallying around the Illinois State Museum which was closed due to a budget battle.
Addressing emerging issues and trends such as forming the 2015 Direct Care Task Force that is clarifying the field-wide terms and use of deaccession funds.
Researching and supporting initiatives for the future of museums, including the annual TrendsWatch report and efforts to expand K12 educational programming in museums.
